NExT-How things happened so far-

The National Exit Test has sparked controversy within the Indian medical student community. Opinion of doctors is also divided. One section is considering NExT a good reform. Dr Ravi Singhvi, a senior Cardiologist from Ahmedabad says that NExT is the only way forward;it will help all except those  students who are not much focussed, the medical colleges that thrive on exorbitant fee and parents having deep pockets. Another section of doctors feel that existing system is sufficient and to ensure quality of doctors in India entrance in the medical colleges must be made tougher. They feel that rather then introducing a licentiate exam, NEET UG qualifying criteris must be changed from 50percentile to 50 percent. It will ensure that only deserving students will enter medical colleges.
