In a strong rebuke against the Central Government, the Medical Service Centre (MSC) has condemned the sudden postponement of NEET-PG 2024, announced just hours before the scheduled examination. The MSC Central Committee, represented by Prof. Vinayak Nerlikar, President, and Dr. Bhabani Sankar Das, General Secretary, issued a press statement criticizing the move, highlighting the negative impacts on examinees nationwide.

The Ministry of Health’s late-night notice declaring the postponement cited the need to maintain the examination’s sanctity amid recent corruption scandals involving NEET-UG 2024 and other competitive exams. However, MSC leaders denounced this justification as an implicit admission of the Ministry's failure and incompetence in managing these exams.

"Postponing the examination at this eleventh hour is utterly preposterous, bringing immense mental stress, financial burden, and harassment to all examinees across the country," the statement read. "This action not only acknowledges significant corruption within the NEET-PG examination system but also casts doubt on the efficacy of a centralized examination system to curb such malpractices."

The MSC has called for the immediate resignation of the Union Ministers of Education and Health, demanding accountability for the postponement and the broader corruption issues. Additionally, they urged the government to delay the NEET-UG counseling process and expedite a thorough investigation into the alleged scams.

"We demand that the government promptly announce a new examination date and ensure exemplary punishment for the masterminds behind these corrupt practices," the statement added.

The MSC also appealed to the medical community, including junior and senior doctors, medical students, and related organizations, to unite against corruption in medical education and uphold medical ethics.

The statement was issued by Dr. Ansuman Mitra, Secretary of the MSC Central Committee, with contact information provided for further inquiries.
