In the mail addressed to MOHFW, and Medical counselling Committee many NEET SS aspirants have raised concern regarding the clash in counselling schedules of NEET SS and INI (AIIMS) SS, impacting the admission process for aspiring medical professionals.
NEET SS counselling is already underway, with the first-round results published, requiring successful candidates to report to their allotted institutes by November 24th. Meanwhile, the INI SS exam took place on October 28th, and ongoing departmental assessments at AIIMS are set to conclude on November 19th, with results expected within 7-10 days thereafter.
The crux of the issue lies in the potential overlap and lack of coordination between two agencies conducting counselling : as INI (AIIMS) results may not be declared before the NEET SS second round deadline, candidates excelling in the former risk having already submitted their original documents to their NEET SS allotted institutes. This predicament affects approximately 190-200 seats, prompting a call for a timely resolution to ensure deserving candidates secure seats through both INI and NEET SS.Many aspirants have urged MOHFW and MCC to address this issue.
Fedeartion of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has written a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on this issue and has urged the MOHFW and MCC to consider rescheduling the reporting time for NEET SS round 01 untill after the INI SS results are declared and to make a provision of online surrender of NEET SS seat if a candidate secures a seat in INI SS counselling and wants to retain the INI SS seat.
Proposed solutions include either a two-week delay in NEET SS counselling or an expedited release of INI results before November 23rd November. The plea underscores the urgency of the matter, emphasizing its impact on the future of numerous aspiring doctors in the nation.
Understanding the importance of this issue, FAIMA had reached out to the Ministry and the AIIMS Exam Section for a resolution.FAIMA representatives Dr. Suvrankar Datta, Vice President and Dr. Devesh Dubey, Chief Advisor, had a productive discussion with the AIIMS Assistant Controller of Examinations. They were assured by AIIMS officials that the INI-SS results will be declared very soon. This should help alleviate the scheduling conflicts and allow for smoother participation in both the counsellings.
Ironically lack of coordination between agencies conducting counselling for various medical entrance exams is causing lots of hardship to students. Many times students with lower ranks end up getting better seats. In NEET UG a special stray vacancy round had to be conducted because of large scale seat blocking resulting in hundreds of vacant seats due to complex counselling process.A section of students is asking for overhauling of counselling process.
Recently a meeting took place between MCC,NMC and MOHFW officials to address this issue.
