A patient who suffered a heart attack underwent emergency angioplasty at a private hospital in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Before the treatment, the patient's family was told it would cost Rs. 180,000, of which Rs. 110,000 was collected from them as advance. After the treatment, the family created a ruckus at the hospital, caused damage, and left without paying the remaining amount.

I think it is a first in a case of doctor-petitioner versus a patient-accused in a Lok Adalat. For long there was no easily approachable or swift-actionable mechanism of redressal for doctors/hospitals intending fees recovery. One had to approach a civil court which takes a toll on precious time of practicing doctors. It could be a trend setter for doctors, who face similar issues, in future. Thanks for sharing ..Pacemakers. 🙏

This case is historic Drs must not tolerate injustice. Case against insurance companies is doable if they reject claim arbitrarily
