In a shocking incident, Prakruthi Shetty, a 20-year-old MBBS student from a private college in the city, jumped to her death from the 6th floor of her hostel building on Monday. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with a startling revelation emerging from her suicide note.

Prakruthi, hailing from Athani town in Belagavi district, attributed her extreme step to the profound impact of obesity on her mental well-being. In a heart-wrenching note, she expressed her frustration, stating, "I wanted to complete my MBBS course,but my obesity has come in the way. My efforts to lose weight have gone in vain and the development has caused me depression."

This unusual cause of suicide has raised questions about the societal pressures and mental health challenges faced by individuals, shedding light on the less-explored dimensions of mental well-being among students.
