Baba Ramdev is not backing down from the controversy between him and modern medicine. Despite the court's stern comments and warnings during the hearing of the Indian Medical Association's plea against misleading advertisements, Baba Ramdev remains defiant. In the explosive press conference after the court's warning, Baba asserted allegations against modern medicine and hailed Patanjali's discovery of a drug for Type 1 diabetes as Nobel Prize-worthy. In the press conference, Baba presented some of his associates and patients who claimed miraculous benefits from his medicines. Baba declared that if necessary, he is willing to present evidence before the honorable Supreme Court, showcasing patients who turned to him after disappointment with modern medicine and experienced remarkable benefits from his remedies.
This press conference has sparked serious questions from the medical community on social media. Dr. Raj Shekhar Yadav, the State Convener of the United Private Clinics and Hospitals Association of Rajasthan, has written an open letter to Baba Ramdev, demanding public disclosure of information about patients suffering from diabetes, cancer, tuberculosis, fibroid uterus, CAD, ESRD, liver cirrhosis etc who, according to Baba, were cured after receiving his treatment. The letter emphasizes the challenges faced by young children with Type 1 diabetes who have to endure multiple insulin injections throughout the day, suggesting that if Baba's medicines can truly liberate them from insulin dependence, it would be a significant global discovery that should be presented before the world.
A video of Professor Sarvesh Jain, working as Professor in the Department of Anaesthesia at Sagar Medical College in Madhya Pradesh, questioning Baba Ramdev, has gone viral on social media.
In the video Dr Jain Has raised serious questions on self styled babas in India who are spreading information related to important and sensitive healthcare issues without any evidence. Dr. Purvish Parikh from Maharashtra has urged all Oncology and Medical Associations in the country to volunteer for scientifically examining Baba Ramdev's claims, emphasizing that if these claims hold true, cancer patients should benefit from them."We can try to tell the court that we will be happy to evaluate the evidence that Patanjali is claiming - as "friends of the court", says Dr Purvish
Dr. Pankaj Anand, Senior Physician and Head of Critical Care at Fortis Hospital Jaipur, asserts that while we, the practitioners of Modern Medicine, harbor no opposition to AYUSH, we vehemently stand against unfounded and misleading claims aimed at product sales. The publications generated by Patanjali to validate their assertions lack credibility and are not sourced from reputable journals. The global recognition of Modern Medicine stems from its outstanding research and evidence-based approach. Misleading the unsuspecting public against a well-established medical system is an act of deplorable nature.
