
Some Private Medical Colleges seemingly fail medical graduates deliberately-Parliamentary Standing Committee
The Parliamentary Committee was apprised of the fact that some private medical colleges seemingly fail medical graduates deliberately during mid-semester exams which results in repetition of the semester, and charging additional fees for repeating the semester or exam. This practice causes stress on the medical students, financial and otherwise. The Committee therefore recommended that UGMEB may develop appropriate feasible modalities for monitoring assessment, revaluation, etc. without charging any additional fee.

Through a public notice dated 8th feb 2024 PGMEB of national Medical Commission has instructed medical colleges to not to exploit Post graduate students by compelling them to avail hostel facility.

Through a public notice dated 8th Feb 2024 the National Medical Commission has extended the last date for submission of comments on National Exit Test Regulations,2023 by 10 days.

Lok Adalat orders in favor of hospital, Patient told to settle pending hospital bill with interest
A patient who suffered a heart attack underwent emergency angioplasty at a private hospital in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Before the treatment, the patient's family was told it would cost Rs. 180,000, of which Rs. 110,000 was collected from them. After the treatment, the family created a ruckus at the hospital, caused damage, and left without paying the remaining amount. The hospital filed a case in the local court. Despite repeated summons, neither the patient nor their family appeared before the court. The court ordered the patient to pay the outstanding amount plus interest.
