In response to the Hon’ble Supreme Courts order on 27th Feb 2024 v pertaining to Rule 9 of CEA Rules of 2012 and fixing common rates for all Hospitals, FPHNAI - The Federation of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Associations’ of India, the federal body representing the different Associations of Private Hospitals & Nursing homes throughout the country has written a letter to the Health Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.

NMC invites comments from stakeholders on the issue of broadcasting of Live Surgeries
In pursuance of the prayer in a WP before Hon SC it has been decided by NMC to constitute a Committee of experts to give recommendations on the issue of live surgeries broadcast by private hospitals in the country. In this regard all stakeholders and members of the public are invited to provide comments on the said issue of live surgery broadcast within the next 10 days, facilitating the committee in their pursuit of a balanced and informed decision-making process.
NCDRC upholds the decision of State Commission, Jaipur Doctor and Hospital to pay 50Lakh with interest for Medical Negligence and Deficiency in Service
In the judgment delivered on 27th Dec 2023 the NCDRC has upheld the decision of the state comission in which the commission had found treating Gynecologist and hospital guilty of medical negligence and deficiency in service at the time of the birth of a child resulting in permanent disability. State commission ordered the doctor and hospital to pay 50Lakh as compensation with 9percent interest from the date of filling of the complaint in the state commission.

Government Mulls Establishing a Health Regulator
In a significant development government is mulling over establishing Health regulator for achieving the target of insurance for all. In a letter written by Secretary Finance department to Secretary Health, it has been proposed that for achieving the target of insurance for all, insurance penetration needs rapid scaling up. In the case of health insurance there appears to be a need for establishing health regulator for achieving this goal.
