Breaking News : National Medical Commission Guides State Medical Councils to Streamline Additional Qualifications Registration Process

The Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) at the National Medical Commission, aiming to address student concerns, underscores the imperative for State Medical Councils to register additional qualifications for students of postgraduate degree and diploma courses. Despite prior directives, PGMEB continues to receive complaints regarding the non-registration of additional qualifications due to seat classification on the NMC website.

Some students, meeting the specified criteria for registration, find their seats categorized differently on the NMC portal, causing complications when seeking registration with State Medical Councils. Notably, seats on the NMC website are classified as "recognized" or "permitted", leading to challenges for students in registering their additional qualifications.

To rectify this issue, PGMEB has issued instructions for all State Medical Councils to streamline the registration process. In a press release dated 21.11.2023, PGMEB has  urged State Medical Councils to promptly register the first four batches of degree courses and three batches of diploma courses admitted against seats listed as "permitted" on the NMC website.
